Tempack’s on-going commitment to sustainability has given birth to another recyclable brainchild: The PET Thermpack temperature control shipper.
This passive shipping box is economical and eco-friendly, giving agro-food, chemical and life sciences companies an affordable, reliable transportation solution that will satisfy their own sustainability goals.
The key to the performance of this isothermal shipper is its use of 100% recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (or PET) bottles. PET is a highly-recyclable plastic resin and a form of polyester. Renowned for its impact resistance and thermo-stability, the nature of the material also allows us to provide cost efficiencies at every turn.
Organic fiber-based or foam-based insulation is often used with eco-friendly shippers. But these materials are heavy by comparison, and ultimately more expensive. PET Thermpack is inexpensive and its lightweight composition saves further on shipping costs.
Its high-performance thermal protection is made even more appealing by the fact that it maintains temperatures for prolonged periods of up to 48 hours, using fewer refrigerant packs than would normally be required in other shippers. Think cost savings. And the Thermpack shipper’s low footprint reduces storage and shipping space — more savings again.
On a sustainability score, PET Thermpack has few rivals. Recycled PET requires around 70% less energy than virgin material. And it is a truly recyclable cold-chain insulation solution. The end customer can dispose of their single-use shipper in either commercial or household curbside recycling bins, ready for collection by the local authority.
This is welcome news for corporates with eco agendas. Companies that have a need to ship food, chemical, pharmaceutical or biological products at chilled levels for up to 48 hours, not only keep the integrity of their shipments intact, but also their sustainability initiatives.
