Rigid Cold Packs/Plates

Rigid Cold Packs/Plates
Cooling Elements

Combine a thermal Tempack Rigid Cold Pack with an isothermal box or insulated container and you have a complete, high-performance, cold chain logistics solution — and one that is robust enough for shipping all manner of temperature-sensitive products.

Organisations that transport food, plants or chemical products, and other temperature-sensitive products like pharmaceuticals, vaccines, reagents, serums, insulin, samples, all require refrigerated temperatures for the transit of their goods.

The integrity of these shipments will rely partly, but significantly, on the performance of their temperature-controlled cooling elements. The key to the Tempack positive thermal cold pack lies in its use of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and eutectic gel. Rigid HDPE offers excellent resistance to breakage and compression. A tough, recyclable plastic, it has an outstanding strength-to-density ratio which provides excellent impact-, puncture- and tear-resistance, even during rigorous handling. It also enables reuse.

HDPE’s strength guarantees the resilience and stability of the eutectic gel, while the gel itself prevents the cold pack from buckling. In its cold pack format, the gel improves thawing time, absorbing heat and ensuring a more stable temperature release. Its shape is designed to optimise the heat exchange surface of the cooling gel. This isothermal cold pack should be frozen at -20°С at least 24 hours before use to obtain maximum performance. This will ensure extended temperature-controlled shipment stability for up to 120 hours.

Everything in the Tempack, temperature-controlled, rigid cold pack has been engineered to maintain products at chilled or refrigerated temperatures of +2° to +8°C throughout the cold chain. This product can be produced in customised sizes for large quantities. Current formats are ranging from 200cc right up to 4,100cc.

Rigid Cold Packs FAQs

What are rigid cold packs and how do they work?

Rigid cold packs are reusable, solid bottles filled with a non-toxic gel that maintains a consistent temperature for extended periods. They are ideal for keeping refrigerated goods cool during transport and storage.

How long can rigid cold packs keep items cold?

Rigid cold packs will keep items cold for a complete transport process, depending on the external temperature and the insulation of our containers. We have solutions for 24h to 48 hours. Other configurations allow longer hold times.

Are rigid cold packs reusable?

Yes, rigid cold packs are designed for multiple uses. Simply refreeze them after each use to ensure they are ready for the next delivery cycle.

What types of products are best suited for rigid cold packs?

Rigid cold packs are perfect for transporting perishable items such as fresh produce, dairy products, and other chilled goods that require stable, cool temperatures. Additionally, they are food-safe and suitable for direct contact with food items, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and safety during transportation.

How do I clean and maintain rigid cold packs?

Rigid cold packs are easy to clean with mild soap and water. Ensure they are completely dry before refreezing to maintain their effectiveness.

What is the minimum order quantity for rigid cold packs?

The minimum order quantity for rigid cold packs is one pallet, with the exact number of pieces varying depending on the selected model. Tempack does not supply individual units or loose boxes, ensuring efficient bulk purchasing for large-scale logistics needs.
